Product Review:  Koala Clip

Once in a blue, I'm fortunate enough to review some really dope items that piques my interest.  Back in December, Koala Clip's founder Kristina Powell reached out to me after reading my brief craptacular experience during the New York City Marathon.  Around this time, I must have been contacted by every company under the sun but here's what made me instantly love her and want to test her product:
  1. I'm a sucker for a small company;
  2. She told me something about herself;
  3. I learned why she created this product
This might be something small to some people but this is a HUGE thing to me.  Without her knowing it, she helped this plus size runner out with one of my biggest nuisances:  Where am I going to store my phone during long runs.  In turn, I couldn't pass up this opportunity to test out this product and give you guys my unfiltered opinion.

Deets and Specs Breakdown

Picture
If you're a plus-size gal like me, you've probably chafed once in a while--okay, more like six thousand times--and belt clips left a cute little gash near your derriere.  Wait, but what about arm bands?  Ha, if I was a dude, you'd probably call me #beefy thanks to my massive arms that developed from my powerlifting and kettlebell obsession.  Arm bands are either too small or require an extension.  Once the extension is on, I sweat profusely in that area and my skin is pretty inflamed after a workout.

Here's the thing:  Koala Clip is sweat and water resistant with breathable material.  And when you don't want it to be seen, it attaches itself conveniently to your bra.

Thanks to the ever-changing phone market, we might have a phone that's tiny one day and massive tomorrow.  The Koala Clip is offered in two different sizes and some pretty dope colors that I know runners and cyclists like me appreciate.

Large fits phones and cases up to 4.25" wide and 6.5" long"

So What's the Verdict

Picture
When I received it, I thought it was pretty basic and wondered if it would really hold up to the test.  In the beginning of January, I tested out the Koala Clip through several plyometric based workouts and even wore it two different ways during my Joe Klienerman Half Marathon.  Just to make sure I felt the same, I went on a short run about two hours ago:  My loves--I'm geeked about this product.  Lemme tell you why:
  • I was able to conveniently clip it onto the back of my shirt and grab it when I impulsively wanted to do an Instagram clip or take a selfie--and yes, you can clamp it onto the back of a shirt but place the case INSIDE not flapping dangerously in the wind.
  • When I was convinced I didn't need to grab my phone any longer, it rested comfortably on my back (see above image)
  • Despite coming back pretty damn sweaty, my phone was completely dry
  • The clip is flexible and my paranoid heart appreciated knowing that I wouldn't break it
  • I didn't have one blemish on my body nor was my skin irritated/chafed after a run
  • I have enough space to throw in my small set of keys, money and debit cards
  • When I ran at sketchy hours of the night, my Koala Clip wasn't visible to the public--this goes for daytime hours as well
  • It's not gonna break your pockets:  Roughly 26 - 28.00 USD

Any Drawbacks?

Depending on how YOU look at it, here's where someone might nitpick--personally I wouldn't but I'm giving a full review:
  • For someone who misses their designated bottle holder in a belt clip, this may not be for you; instead, I'd suggest you to pick up a handheld bottle holder that you can run with if this doesn't bother you
  • The outside of the Koala Clip picked up all of my sweat because duh, I perspire but it served its purpose of keeping my phone dry--seriously, this isn't even a negative because that is naturally going to happen
I hope you wasn't looking for more drawbacks because I really don't have any to give you.

You said you wore it two different ways. Can you explain. And does this only work with racer backs? I suppose you could wear it in the front?
